Ciao!

I have been in Florence for 4 days now and I love it so much so far. I have been keeping pretty busy with school and new friends from the east coast. Tomorrow my school is hosting a symposium on the use of the camera obscura, and one of my professors and David Hockney will be giving lectures. It's pretty exciting here.
I went to the supermarket for the first time yesterday, and to my surprise the clerks do not bag your groceries. I didn't figure this out until the person behind me started ringing up and all of my stuff was in the way. They also charge 5 cents for extra bags!
One of my favorite things to pass by on my daily walk is a little table set up inside of a meat store with four little stuffed pigs sitting and having a meal. So cute and hilarious!

Started packing today.

I leave for Italy in two weeks. I am nervous and excited and can't believe it's almost time to go. Today I started making a list of the items of apparel I am taking with me and it is so hard to narrow things down. Especially with shoes. I am usually one who over-packs, so I am really struggling with this task.  I went ahead and packed some cold weather items like scarves, coat and jacket, and 3 long sleeved dresses. I need someone to come over and help me.

Not a very exciting first post.
